Clinical Child & Adolescent Practice SIG Update

Clinical Child & Adolescent Practice SIG Update

By Megan Lawson, PsyD, ABPP
Chair, Clinical Child and Adolescent Practice SIG

The Clinical Child and Adolescent Practice SIG has exciting programming ahead! We have been busy planning several continuing education offerings for 2027, with presentations addressing a range of timely issues relevant to psychologists working with children, adolescents, and families.

Upcoming presentations include:

  • Ashley Powell, PhD, who will present on working with child sex trafficking victims.
  • Alex Roberts, PhD, who will present “Same Disability, Different Rules: IDEA, Section 504, and the ADA Across the Educational Pipeline.” This presentation will focus on the differing legal frameworks governing testing accommodations and disability supports across educational settings.
  • Our own former SIG Chair, Jill Thurber, PhD, ABPP, who will present on her trademarked model, The Integrated Parent.
  • Amy Gorniak, PsyD, who will present on climate psychology with children and adolescents.

We are excited about the breadth of expertise represented in these upcoming programs and look forward to sharing dates and additional details as they become available.

Our current board includes:

Chair: Megan Lawson, PsyD, ABPP
Secretary: Mary Collins, PsyD
Student Representative: Leslie Musgrove, PsyD
Members at Large: Cynthia Diaz de Leon, PhD; Alex Roberts, PhD; Priscilla Morrison, PsyD
Liaison to SCCAP Practice Committee: Jacqueline Herrera, PsyD

We always welcome new members to serve with us!
